I had no idea you and Mr. D were looking at foster / adoption! So happy for you! I’m still early in this process. We still need to go through licensing etc. but I know I need to get involved in some way. Thanks as always for your support and I will definitely be reaching out to see what your experience is like with the whole process!

We should talk. We’re going through the foster/adoption process right now (but, I swear, if you get a baby before I do, I will cut your knees off) and to say it’s challenging is putting it mildly. Be prepared to take afternoons off for classes (even though you already have kids) and prove that, while you have a very good job, you can drop everything at a moment’s notice (and I mean moment) and be at the agency’s beck and call. And that’s all before you can even apply. The system is making me nuts. They don’t return phone calls. They haven’t discovered email. And, when they do finally call you, it’s to say, “We need you here this afternoon at 2:00.” “Oh, but I’m in Miami.” “I guess you’ll have to wait until next month, then.”

Also. VERY proud of you for the marathon goal! It will be the hardest physical thing you’ve ever done…and also the most rewarding.

Thanks Nikki! I really took this to heart once I turned 40 in March. I want to be as active with my kids as possible and set a good example for them too!

Patrick, congrats on the progess. I’ve been on a similar journey. Since it is “Movember” I would recommend that all of us guys make an appointment to see our family physician and get that annual check up!
